The 499 single is a 1949 Comet with unusual high-level exhaust, Brampton forks, AMC gearbox and Stevenage's largest rear sprocket of 60 teeth. The front engine plates and their twin prop stands have been removed as has the cast-alloy cowl covering the magneto and below it, the filter chamber which houses a full-flow felt filter. Seat is standard, the footrests are not.
